Mukhiani — 3rd Microdistrict
Foundation Pit Reinforcement
The brief
Foundation pit reinforcement commissioned by Unix Development in Tbilisi's Mukhiani 3rd microdistrict (2018). Mukhiani is a large-scale residential area in eastern Tbilisi undergoing significant redevelopment — the project was part of Unix Development's ongoing construction programme in the district.
The challenge
Mukhiani's post-Soviet residential blocks and the varied ground conditions of eastern Tbilisi presented a different geotechnical environment from the premium Vake projects. The dense residential occupation of the microdistrict required that vibration and noise remain at minimum throughout the piling works.
Our approach
ERTI deployed the press-in sheet piling system to install a continuous foundation pit perimeter wall, enabling the safe basement excavation required for Unix Development's residential building. The zero-vibration methodology protected the occupied residential buildings in the immediate surroundings.
