Foundation Pit Reinforcement for Hotel Development
The brief
Foundation pit reinforcement works for the Ambassadori Hotel development in Batumi (2019). Batumi's rapid hospitality construction boom of the late 2010s placed significant demand on foundation engineering — the Ambassadori project was one of several hotel foundations ERTI supported across the Black Sea city during this period.
The challenge
Hotel foundations in central Batumi require deep excavations in coastal soil conditions with elevated groundwater. The urban site proximity to existing structures and the hospitality sector's high design standards added coordination complexity to what was already a technically demanding foundation programme.
Our approach
ERTI installed a sheet pile perimeter wall to provide lateral earth retention and groundwater cutoff for the hotel basement excavation. The works were sequenced to the hotel development programme, enabling the structural contractor to begin foundation slab construction within the protected excavation.
